That ratty faced diet woman. What is she called? Are her books any good?

Gillian McKeith?

Iklboo · 06/09/2006 13:58

That's her - but seeing as her diets look like "don't eat lard, eat fruit" I wouldn't spend money on a book when I could just use common sense

Healthy nuts and seeds. And loads of quinoa.

but her recipes involve all sorts of weird and wonderful seeds, quinoa and random stuff.

Ah - I see - celery butty then?
Try bbc.co.uk/food - there's loads of low fat recipes on there for free - amoothies, stir fry, casseroles etc.
Other than that, look on Amazon and see if her books are going cheaper than the shops - check out "New and Used"

Ok she's thin, but would you want to look like her? I mean, she doesn't look well.

JackieNo · 06/09/2006 14:07

There are some recipes on her website .

She's mindbogglingly annoying.

Oh, and totally unqualified, from what I know. Nutritionism is a bit of a minefield, qualification-wise.

Sorry, I have nothing actually useful or relevant to contribute.

I found a good cookbook 'change your life meal planner ' something like that. I got it from the library. Its not actually written by her but takes all the recipes and hints from her series. Arranged in a month by month section - September's chapter has lots of good info/ideas for packed lunches and using food that is seasonal. The recipes in it are not as 'extreme' as in her books ie uses sugar, uses meat.

Celery soup...

Chop an onion & some celery up small. Saute in a tiny bit of olive oil til soft, add 1/2 pint veg stock, bring to boil then simmer for 15 mins. Leave to cool, then blitz. For a bit of creaminess/tangy taste add a swirl of v low fat creme fraiche before serving

trinityrhino · 06/09/2006 14:23

I thought she was actually ill or something
