Anyone else really suffering with hayfever this year?

I've never had it like this before Sad

I'm taking cetirizine hydrochloride (sp) daily, which is keeping the very worst at bay, but still feeling pants. My eyes are both dry and gunky Confused and really sore and itchy, and my head feels constantly fuzzy. Plus really itchy skin on my face, arms and legs.

Is there anything stronger I can take, or any additional? I know there's loratidine, but the internet has conflicting advice on whether both can be taken together. I'm planning a trip to the pharmacy at lunch, so any hints or tips on things to ask about would be great, or general day to day stuff I can do to help it.

I feel such a wimp, it's only hayfever, but I feel completely floored by it. Sat at work feeling barely with it after walking in this morning Sad

Thanks

It's awful this year. I haven't been able to see properly for days, my eczema has flared up and it makes me just so tired.

I went to the GP one year and they gave me some stronger anti-histamines and they've also said DS can have both cetirizine (sp?) and piriton so that helps.

Opticrom eye drops and the hayfever nasal spray both help a bit but it's still grim

Try benadryl take three times a day. Not one a day dont do anything. I also use beconase nasal spray. That seems to work for me.

I've been using the Beconase (sp?) spray for the past 2 days and it's amazing!
I've not sneezed once since using it and I was quite bad, tablets not working properly etc.

Yes I keep waking in the night and felt very bunged up yesterday. I take the loratidine is it called once a day and it's not even touching it!

Go to your Doc. Get stronger stuff.

I've had to this year as my allergy is tree pollen and it's been a fucker.
Wrap around sunglasses to keep it out of your eyes too.

See I've heard good things about the nasal spray, but I haven't actually been sneezing much at all, it's my head and eyes that are the problem. Would it help with those?

I had a bad time with the silver birch pollen this year, and have now just had a bad reaction with a nectarine, which is related (oral allergy syndrome/pollen food Syndrome)

I get sleepy with the loratadene and the cetirizine makes my nosal passages dry and sore. Tried benedryl this year as it was on offer at the supermarket. I have heard a lot of good things about nasal sprays, so will try those next year (last year, it rained constantly as soon as the silver birch flowers came out YAY!)

I sympathise - DH and DS2 are really suffering badly. DH texted me this morning to say whatever possessed him to walk through the woods, so maybe tree pollen is what's getting to him at the moment.

If it's any consolation, you can grow out of hayfever. I used to get it really badly as a teenager (in those days antihistamines were like heavy duty sleeping tablets - great when you were doing exams!) but I haven't had it for donkeys years.
