feel slightly traumatised so thought i'd write it down to get it off my chest. IYSWIM.
Started with my elder daughter having severe impetigo but not ill with it just very sore and looked awful. Then dd2 had a couple of scratches on her face and was complaining her eyes hurt and her bottom hurt. She had what looked like a mild nappy rash but nothing else. Was up most of the night saying her arms hurt, bottom hurt legs hurt. Had in the morning had a rash like impetigo behind her ear. Took her to the gp who said it was impetigo and a virus and gave her antibiotics.
She got worse through the day temp and aches and pains and was up all night again. By the morning her ears had swollen up and started peeling like sun burn and her lips and eyes had swollen. Took tho the gp again and sat for an hour waiting with her face getting more swollen, by this stage she would n't be touched at all everything hurt so sat in the buggy. The Gp took one look at her and said she'd need to be admited for iv antibiotics.
spent the day having antibiotics but she could n't eat or drink as her mouth had swollen so much
had an awful night. She got large blistors all over her face, tummy, back. Anyway ended up in HDU where she was put on morphine, but on fluid drip and catherterised but poor thing was so swollen internally they could n't get the tube up in the end managed to get a very small baby nasel tube up her to drain her bladder. She lost most of her skin on her face and chest and her back. Sorry this is a really long storey but just need to get out. So gave her eight different antibiotics and came up with several diagnosis. One bullons impetigo with strephtaccol toxic scalded skin syndrome. Or sevens-johnsons syndrome. Thank god she started getting better last wed day 5 in hospital and slowly started taking oral fluids 2mls of milk at a time. She had had so many lines in at this stage in her hand and feet that they could n't get another rline in also at this stage all the skin had come of her the backs of her hands, so moved her on to oral antibiotics came home thursday eve much to are relief and making an amazing recoverery her face is almost completly heeled. Her hands are still sore and she lost a finger nail yesterday has she had bistors under her nails. She is so brave though and does n't complain she went out in the buggy today for walk with wellies on as her feet are still swollen, sunglasses on has her eyes are very sensative and socks on her hands ! because she does n't like banages. Bless. I really held it together in hospital but keep going over things in my head and feel shacky. Hopefully this will pass soon. Sorry for the book well done if you made it this far thanks.

Absolutely and completely not in the same league, but ds and dd have just had impetigo, and the skin afterwards looked very pink and was rather sensitive. But absolutely see your GP if you're worried. Crikey, after what you've been through, they will understand the need for reassurance.

What a brave family ! So glad to hear dd is on the mend. What a scary time for you all. Don't children just amaze you with their resilience.
We too have been through it with our dd who is 2.5yrs. She is due to have another op nxt Friday to remove a lymph node under her jaw so I know how you must have felt. It's taken since Easter to identify the infection so we are glad it'll finally all be over soon.

You feel so helpless don't you? But you sound like a very together lady and I'm sure this helped you with coping with a very scary and difficult situation.
Sending you big hugs

Hi carol3 you ARE an amazing lady who has coped fantastically with all that has gone on over the last couple of weeks. I know your dd2 is going to be fine so no more worrying. You need to take some time for you, perhaps going out with a coule of your best friends to a concert may help!
See you in the morning
Love ya
