Are you still BF? Or is she is on formula. Try and get her to drink more water, extra juice - will she eat something like prunes? Can you rub her tummy for her? I used to sit DS up on my knees with my feet up on the coffee table and rub his tummy in circular movements with my thumbs. Seemed to relief the discomfort somewhat.

I asked RE formula as SMA gold constipated my DS - not familier with that formula though - is it a special one? 8.5 months - warm baths help and also I don't know if she walks but being upright and moving can help.

nemo77, get some prunes (tinned., pakcet whatever), stew them, puree them and mix with pear to disgusie the taste if u think she wont liek. and it will work guaranteed.

or u could try her on some prune juice - ready made in the bottle - and dilute it a bit. give it to her off the spoon if u have to force it in, it works , i cant emphasise enough

Another person is having the same prob with their 6 months old. Read their thread!

Nemo1977 · 04/09/2006 21:32

flossam she is cruising and tends to stand up to try and help hence she goes stiff..the formula is one for reflux but has never caused problems before.

hermykne will get her some prune juice tommorow she will prob take it as she takes anything..lol

Nemo - DS was on enfamil for reflux too and after we started weaning him he regularly got quite constipated - just persevere with fruit juice watered down and 'proper' fruit as well. Any chance your LO's reflux is beter enough to come off the enfamil yet?

liquidclocks · 04/09/2006 21:39

btw, speak to your doctor first obviously, but babies under a year can have a small dose of lactulose which might help.

Nemo1977 · 04/09/2006 21:39

liquidclocks..I did wonder if it was as she is taking more food. Might try her on a little of something else to see if it helps.

Hi Nemo,

I just posted on another thread for a 6month old. I got this off another site I will post the link. here

liquidclocks · 05/09/2006 11:07

Hi Nemo, that post from mum2funkydude is interesting - I had a theory with DS that he needed less 'stodge' than other babies because enfamil already contains rice starch so perhaps there is a link there? Hope your LO feels better soonand enjoys her bigger servings of nanas

LoveMyGirls · 05/09/2006 13:13

i had a nightmare with dd1 when she was about 12mths she ended up having to see a consultant at the hospital and was on lactulose daily until she was potty trained (which wasn't easy with a dd that was now scared to poo!)

once we mastered potty training which took about 6 mths she was and is fine

Prune juice is fantastic. My DS used to have severe constipation and this was the only thing that worked. Personally I can tell you that when I take it, it works better than any laxative but some people are very sensitive to it and it can give tummy cramps if you are sensitive.
