Discoid eczema - what helps?

I have had what I think is discoid eczema for about 18 months, mainly where my arm joins my body, a few patches. At one point last summer it almost disappeared but then came back in a slightly bigger patch this January. It is in quite defined round red patches, sometimes flaky. The patches are very stubborn to shift.

The doc diagnosed it as fungal but I'm sure it's not - no antifungals make a difference and the only thing that helps (sometimes) is moisturising and steroid cream (was prescribed antifungal/steroid).

I have recently got a tiny patch on my leg and am worried it will spread further. I was also given Trimovate cream which used to help but now doesn't do much. It takes days to shift even a bit and the eczema just comes straight back when I stop it.

I'm wondering whether changing my diet, e.g. cutting out dairy or wheat might help? Am pretty sure it's not cosmetic/laundry powder related.

Thanks for any help.

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Eczema-(discoid)/Pages/Treatment.aspx - can be misdiagnosed as ringworm as it also appears as round patches.

Def not ringworm - it hasn't infected anyone else in the house despite having had it 18 months, and it is darker in the middle then fades out rather than the other way round. The conventional steroid creams etc. doesn't do much, just wondering if something different had worked for others

Dd has discoid eczema and the only thing that cleared it completely was light therapy

discoid here. I use dermovate very lightly and I go overboard on moisturiser.

with excema tje skin is dry. cant keep moist ever. so trust me when I say. steroid cream lightly. and a tonnne of epaderm.
