SNORING!! Please help

DP's snoring is driving me mental. I can't remember the last decent nights sleep I had with him in the same room. It doesn't matter which position he lays in, he snores. It's so loud he will often wake himself!!
We are currently on holiday and DP, DD and I are all in one room (he wanted to come to a hotel, I wanted an apartment). It takes me ages to settle DD (18mo) only for him to fall asleep, snore and wake her up.

All suggestions welcome, I'm thinking he'll be on a subbed by the pool tonight!!

We got a Snore Ring from holland and barrats, he puts it on his little finger half an hour before bed and once he's asleep it's like a switch had been flipped! Amazing! Think it was a tenner.

Do not ignore this.

He needs to seek medical advice asap after he gets back from holiday.

Snoring can be a sign of potentially serious medical conditions and he needs to be checked out by a GP in the first instance. Obstructive sleep apnoea can be potentially dangerous if he does have this and he is not getting a decent night's sleep either.

I've got a Snore Ring but he refuses to wear it. Must try again.
I find Boots silicon earplugs blot him out but that's no use for your DD sorry.
You could try surgical tape gently pressed above and below his mouth, with a bit of slack in between. Then if his jaw drops open it'll wake him up enouh to turn on his side (technique recommended in the Buteyko Breathing Method). So attractive!

Good luck with going down the gp route. Ours basically said the only solutions were surgical and not guaranteed to work; didn't seem to think sleep deprivation for the little woman was an issue.

Do you have a balcony you can shove him out on?

Or failing that, ask hotel management if you can have a separate room for you and DD?

Massive sympathy OP. Been there (still there) Sad

Flumpy2012 · 09/06/2014 06:43

Thank you for all your replies. Will definitely be trying the snore ring when we return.

Last night was better, I made him use saline spray and wash his nose and throat out, blow his nose, then dab olbas on his finger and put it up his nose and drink a bottle of water.

He still snored but not initially so at least I got some sleep and DD slept too!!

We will go to the gp but I'm pretty sure they'll just tell him to lose some weight. He's not big but could lose a stone or so. Will ask about sleep apnea too x

Going through similar with dh. He also needs to lose some weight.

I am cracking up so you have my sympathy. hes always snored but lately no matter which position he lays it doesnt matter. and its SO loud.

I am poorly too Sad

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/06/2014 19:56

Oh just remembered there is a throat spray by Nytol which is supposed to work by deadening the throat muscles or something; we both tried it one night and it did work but had quite a strong taste and made DH thirsty. Might be worth a try though.

Didyouevah · 16/07/2014 21:56

Any resolution with this?

My DH is terrible. I can really foresee problems if it doesn't get sorted.
