Permanent ache/discomfort in lung

That's it really, DH(46) is asthmatic (since a toddler) has had pleurisy and pneumonia in the last 8 years. His asthma was bad when he lived with his parents but has been under control since leaving 30 years ago with twice daily use of the preventer . He only needs his reliever when he had a cold or been in contact with cats/dogs. Now he uses this almost every day. He is a bit overweight and snores the house down most nights. He also gets acid reflux whilst asleep and I think that acid goes into his lungs as he coughs a lot afterwards and gets up to have a drink. He has been uncomfortable for about 2 years with intermittent episodes of this problem but now it is pretty much constant. It is sometimes so bad it stops him from dropping of to sleep. He isn't stressed at work, the discomfort doesn't change with different situations (he still had it on holiday). It also affects how he carries things like bags as his left side aches. He has had a CAT scan, numerous blood tests, ECG, xrays. We are on round 2 of most of these and nothing shows up. Anyone had anything similar? He has to go back to rheumatologist in a couple of months after his appt yesterday was inconclusive but they suggested discussing pain management. I would rather know why it hurts! No scar tissue from previous pleurisy/pneumonia has been found. I don't think he has mentioned reflux to the gp - there doesn't show any infection in his lungs though. Off to do school run, will some back tonight. Cheers.
