What does ringworm look like at the start?

My 14 yr old son has had ringworm on his hand for ages and now a patch on his forearm that is the typical ring shape. He is using Antigua gal cream but not sure it's working. He now has a mark on his cheek that has been there a week or two I think and it just looks like a pimple but I'm worrying its more ringworm. What does it like at first? I assume they won't just wake up with it looking like ringworm but wod it be more a scaly area. Thanks

Oops Antigua gal is meant to say anti fungal cream!

Does it look like this at all?

Pityriasis Rosea

I had this....it goes away after about 3 weeks but it spreads for a while. It's harmless and due to a virus.

No, he's had piyriasis rosea a few years ago, it's not that. He does have ringworm on his hand but I just hope this inst one starting on his face.

Has he really? It's rare so that's a coincidence! If it is one on his face it will be treatable...maybe you should see the GP again just in case.

Hi. Yes, it's not something I had heard of but I got pityriasis rosea a few years before and didn't have a clue what it was initially so when my son came up with the herald spot then others that followed I was pretty sure it was that and had it confirmed by the GP.

I'm getting him to put the anti fungal cream on the spot on his face just incase but hopefully it's just a teenage spot. Im getting paranoid about every little blemish as I don't want the ringworm to spread!
Thanks again

Ringworm is a right pain. My DS had it on the back of his leg. I was paranoid about him getting it on his face. The doctor said it is quite rare to get it on the face as it is a dry exposed area.

I made sure I boiled his towels and was fastidious about cleaning clothes and sheets.

Could your son wear a cotton glove after applying the cream? Might help it heal quicker.

Sorry for the double post!

Also, after doing battle for several weeks with little effect, a new doctor suggested rubbing the cream in and then covering with metanium. Amazing results. Metanium is so dry it held the cream in place and I'm sure it helped in its healing. That combined with a glove should heal it quickly.
