Chewing inside of mouth

My 2yr old daughter has been chewing the inside of her mouth. Nursery told me today that she made it bleed. Can we do anything to stop or encourage her not to?

Thanks

I still do it and I am 32 . I have done it for as long as I can remember - it is a habit/comfort thing.

Yeh me too. Defo habit/comfort

Does she grind her teeth during her sleep?
It is possibly stress related. Teeth clenching/grinding and mouth biting are pretty hard to control in grown adults so i'm not sure if there's anything you can do to help her tbh.
Hope it does reslove itself though that must be pretty uncomfortable for her.

No she doesnt grind her teeth at night. But she does use a dummy at night. Not throughout as she only has it when going to bed. Never noticed her grinding her teeth.

She has several comforting habits. I guess this is another one.

I've always done it, I've made my mouth incredibly painful sometimes.

My dd picks her nails, usually when she's nervous or shy, she's picked them so far to the quick they've bled and really hurt.

Haven't a clue how to stop any of these habits. So I'll be interested to see if anybody can help you.

Sorry to be so useless.

Bizarre. Even when I was reading the title of this thread I was doing it! Never made it bleed, but do it all the time. you can always spot someone doing it, they purse their lips and push them over to the side.

Beabea · 31/08/2006 22:30

Not useless at all. Just reassuring to know that it's just one of those things. I have my own habits too. Part of life. Its not life threatening so I won't worry about it.

Thanks
