I had a blood test come back with meglomastic (I think it's called when there are not enough red blood cells so they mutate and enlarge to fill the space) well my psychiatrist was concerned so sent more bloods off when they came back my b 12 levels were 90 my psychiatrist said I was at the point of causing permanent nerve damage.

He wrote called and begged my gp to investigate as he believed I either had Crohn's or pernicous anaemia. Well my gp refused saying they were rare illnesses so my psychiatrist asked me to pester him but I became too I'll mentally to do something.

So now my symptoms have worsened I have bad stomachs every single day for at least six months and I haven't had a solid bowel movement in that time either. I feint a lot, I have numb hands and feet my spine hurts and I feel fluey and have no energy.

Have you been to the GP again?
Could you ask for another doctor?

Imsuchamess · 24/05/2014 06:26

I haven't been to the gp again no. I have made a appointment but he doesn't have one till a week Monday. So I have to be in pain till then.

i would change doctor.

Lweji · 24/05/2014 06:35

If it's really bad, you could go to A&E to be looked after.

BellsaRinging · 24/05/2014 06:37

Can you be a bit more insistent? Or do you have someone who can call for you who is more assertive? I would call, say it's an emergency, and ask for an emergency appointment. At the appointment don't say 'I think it's x', tell them your symptoms, just as you have told us, and insist on some action. Those symptoms sound as if they need to be investigated, and shouldn't be ignored. I am sure that if you tell him/her the length of time and the symptoms they will take you seriously.

Imsuchamess · 24/05/2014 06:37

It is quite bad but I feel silly going to A and E when I've ignored it so long.

But for some reason you have made an appointment now and feel desperate that you have to wait during the weekend.

Imsuchamess · 24/05/2014 07:01

I have to wait a week Monday and the reason I have made a appointment is because I'm tying to sort things in my life out and the pain has got ton to a stage where it's unbearable.

This sounds very serious, OP. It is urgent and you really need to get to hospital with this asap for urgent attention. The GP can't do much and will just tell you to go to the hospital anyway. (I read your other thread). I have a friend who went to A and E with similar pain, it was the right thing to do. Call an abulance if you don't have help getting there and you're in too much pain to walk or drive.

Imsuchamess · 24/05/2014 12:57

I'm not in too much pain to walk or drive. I have a very high pain threshold and it comes in waves. I'll seek medical treatment thank you.

crohns is not that rare - it is unusual but plenty of people can and do have bowel disease

it can be managed with drugs and therapies

if your GP genuinely ignored a potentially damaging condition that is serious

the priority is getting referred urgently to an appropriate consultant who can investigate - what you are describing is not normal

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 24/05/2014 14:28

The friend i refered to above had a very high pain threshold too. It turned out she had Crohns and needed an emergency operation which saved her life. Just in time though.

If pain is ignored, then you become desensitised to it and your body can no longer tell you when there is an urgent problem. Numb hands and feet sounds very bad and never something to ignore.

Imsuchamess · 24/05/2014 14:55

Thanks both.
Yegods you have made me realise how serious this could be I will go seek medical help thank you and I'm sorry about your friend.
