Seeing the doc on Friday, any guesses re. my symptoms in the meantime?

Because it's one of those 'collection of relatively minor but niggly things that, taken altogether, make me feel not quite right' type situations and I'm already wondering if I should even go (even though I will. Iyswim).

For the last 4-6 weeks my lower abdomen has been somewhat swollen. It feels spongy and tender, like when my period is on, but all the time.

For the last 2 weeks or so, I've had waves of nausea and intermittent loss of appetite. Have also noticed a nagging, low-level pain/discomfort on the lower right hand side. It's tender there when pressed e.g. when one of the kids sits on me - not ow-ow-ow pain but definitely uncomfortable and wrong-feeling. It is in the same place all the time.

I frequently have stomach pain during and after eating.

In terms of lifestyle, I eat healthily (lots of different veg, fruit, home cooking, pulses blah blah blah) and drink lots of water. I have put on about a stone over the last three months :( since going back to full time desk job after being a SAHM to little ones - I am not happy about the weight gain and have cut back a lot on booze and biscuits over the last few weeks. Don't do enough exercise but am planning to take up gym/swim membership next month after I get paid.

The bloated belly is really getting me down - I mean, there's the recently enlarged spare tyre, which I am fully cognisant of, and then there's the distended lower abdomen underneath it. It looks and feels like my body has changed shape in some way, rather than what it felt like last time I was a stone and a half overweight. Even DH has said this.

Any thoughts gratefully appreciated. I'm worried they'll roll their eyes at me and tell me to FO.

I think you're definitely right to go to your GP. Some of those symptoms specifically are often listed in GP surgeries saying "get these checked out". It could be any one of a hundred things so I'm not going to suggest some options as I don't want to worry you or give you a false sense of security and I think it should be your GP who discusses it properly with you.

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted soon Smile

Thanks :) I don't have massive amounts of confidence in my GP surgery, which is why I feel a bit in need of reassurance. Most of them are ok but there's one who has given me the brush off (over other things) both times I've seen him. So I hope I'm not seeing him on Friday!

Heh, no, but my periods are regular and unchanged - am having one now, in fact.
