Does this sound like a migraine?

Sunday night (after admittedly a long drive in the stunning sunny weather) I got home and was feeling hugely disorientated. Like had to go and lie in a dark room and sleep for ages. Made it into placement Monday morning (final PGCE observation so had to go) but went home immediately afterwards, slept for three hours then went to bed insanely early and slept for about 11 hrs only to need another nap halfway through the day and still sleep like a log last night. Went to work today but feeling like I've run a marathon and just generally exhausted. Little bit of nausea but no vomiting (totally terrified of this) and some diarrhoea (sorry for tmi!) Been sensitive to light and sound since Sunday night and had pains in neck and shoulders. Thought it might be a bug but everyone I've spoken to who has had migraines says it sounds like one.

Sorry for waffle! To be fair I'm finishing my PGCE and getting married in July... might be stress?? Any opinions appreciated :-)

It could well be a migraine - I get them with similar symptoms. Stress also exacerbates them in my case. If you're worried, phone NHS Direct for advice. Sunday to Wednesday is quite a long time for a migraine, although absolutely not unheard of.

Sounds like some of the symptoms of a migraine to me also.
If you are finishing your PGCE, you'll be sleep deprived and stressed. You kind of have run a marathon!

I get tension in my neck and shoulders when I have deadlines. Ask a pharmacist if they have anything for it. I took something that was quite strong (so waited 'til bedtime) and it helped.
Can you do something totally relaxing soon? Massage? Nice swim? More sleep?!
Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the reply! The actual headache/active (if thats the right word?) bit only really lasted from Sunday night until Monday evening/Tuesday morning but has left me feeling totally wiped. Have read the tiredness can last a while. Not what I need trying to write a dissertation lol.

Will give NHS direct a bell for sure. Thinking of popping to the doctors anyway with it tbh.

This sounds like a migraine to me and as a fellow teacher sounds very much like the migraines I tend to get towards the end of the academic year. Without fail every year the last half term or so I am in bed by about 8pm and longing for more sleep. Always end up getting at least one bad migraine in that final half term too that even prescription drugs struggle to shift.

Am on maternity leave this year so tired but nothing like as stressed!! Grin

Sounds like it could be a virus alternatively. IANAD

Thanks for all your replies! Somedizzy yea
.. I feel you on the end of term thing! Got a whopper of a kidney infection before Christmas so obviously I'm not coping with the stress as well as I thought as I thought I was lol.

My mum reckons it might be viral mabel. As long az its dim and quiet I've found reading my kindle actually helpful which would indicate maybe its not a migraine... I don't know! Off to the docs I go. Really hoping its not, I watched my mum suffer with them and they ain't pretty :-( not something I want hanging around potentially for life!
