Stuff legs and hips after sitting down?

If I'm sat down for awhile, not always a long time but generally is, when I stand up my knees and hips are really stiff and I sort of hobble for a couple of minutes. I'm 21 and not massively active, however have a job which requires to be on my feet all day, then dog walking and day to day life.

Not sure if it's something I should get checked up on or whether it's just one of those things? It's been happening for about 2 years now, no considerable weight gain or anything.

Anyone else had similar and found a resolution? Or is this normal?

Thank you in advance Smile

This sounds just like the stiffness I get which has been diagnosed as osteoarthritis. It is rare at your age but not unknown.

You need to be referred for an X-ray by your GP to get a definite diagnosis. Don't let GP fob you off by saying you are too young to have arthritis! You can get it at any age, even children can get it.

Thank for replying Smile. Was hoping it was most definitely just how life is when you're not a teenager any more!

I have this. I look like an old lady for a few steps, then I'm fine. :)

It's also progressed to having a feeling in my ankles like I weigh far more than I do for the first few steps too. I'm sure it's all related.

I've no idea what it is, but I've had blood tests for arthritis as well as xrays for a different matter and they didn't show anything.

It might be arthritis could easily be something else. Just sounds a lot like the first symptoms I goth

Get it checked out as the sooner it is diagnosed the more can be done to slow down he deterioration. It can't be cured but there is a lot that can be done to ease symptoms and slow the progress f it is diagnosed early.

Thank you, will get it checked, better safe than sorry after all!
