Anyway the nurse couldn't tell me anything about it why I keep getting it etc was prescribed some cream so went along to the pharmacy showed the pharmacist who said it dosent look like ringworm as it's to raised...anybody had it before that could tell me if this is it or not I have googled images but I'm not to sure Thankyou

It looks like ringworm to me. DS2 is always getting ringworm from scratching at eczema on his legs.

I've had ringworm and it didn't look like that- it had a circle around the edge qhich was red and with a light colour centre?
I think it comes from animals? And is quite contagious too.
Not sure if your is? Have you got cream for it?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/05/2014 16:49

That doesn't look like ringworm to me - too raised. Have you been scratching it a lot?

Ringworm is just athletes foot that's not on your feet and an antifungal will (slowly) zap it.

Thankyou for your replys. Yes I've been given some antifungal cream today for it it's not really itchy so not been scratching it just seems to have come out more today while being out in the sun.

I've had this around 4 or 5 times I've read it's really contagious but none of my children or partner have ever caught it and the little ones share my bed a lot.

Ds2's ringworm is always really raised and involves small blisters and stuff. But that's probably because he does scratch at it. It took a visit to a dermatologist to diagnose it as ringworm. The GP just thought it was a particularly persistent patch of eczema (and gave us ever stronger steroid creams before referring us). We have to treat it with a mix of steroid and anti-fungal cream and repeat 'don't scratch it' ad nauseum.

CalamitouslyWrong · 16/05/2014 16:55

None of us have ever caught it from DS2. He's 4 and very cuddly. It did only clear up when we had anti-fungal cream alongside the steroids though.

My daughter had ringworm. None of the rest of us caught it. GP gave me a cream to put on it and it went away. Do you have any pets or contact with animals? Dogs, cats, horses can all get it.

Thankyou all will try the cream and see how I go just thought it a bit odd how the pharmacist thought the nurse was wrong and was asking me if I'd been having any infections that I didn't no Wgere they were coming from..

I do have a dog rideyourbike so will take a look at her now will I be able to see it on her skin if she has it?

When I had it it was a definite ring which increased in size leaving a pale patch in the middle. Wasn't as raised as your's looks , more slightly bumpy iyswim. I'm surprised a nurse couldn't tell you about it, unless you were asking how you picked it up.

My dogs also had a fungal infection that started as a ring but then distorted, vet said it wasn't ringworm but another kind of fungus. All treated and responded well to anti fungal creams.

See how the cream works and go back if you don't see an improvement after a few days.

starynight · 16/05/2014 17:20

No the nurse just didn't seem interested just seemed to answer all my questions with I don't know and only took a quick glance.

Will try the cream and if no improvement ask to see a doctor Thankyou

Hmm, in that case I'd be inclined to trust the pharmacist on this one.

The cream might still work, but yes try and see the GP if not.

fivecupsoftea · 17/05/2014 06:43

My daughter has had ringworm twice. It looked a bit like yours. I read that some people are more susceptible. When she had it last summer she was really run down. It started clearing up after about 3-4 days of the cream and was pretty much gone after two weeks.

rideyourbike · 17/05/2014 08:46

Dog would lose little circles of hair if it had ringworm. Good luck with sorting out your problem x

From what the pharmacist asked- sounds like she may think its a Lyme Disease bite? As these can come up like that ?
www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Lyme-disease/Pages/Symptoms.aspx
And maybe the reason for her asking if you have had any infections that you don't know where they come from could be as she thought maybe its that? As I think you can get flu like symptoms from a tick bite?
(Of course I'm no GP and no idea just not convinced its ringworm either ) hope your okay.
