Does this look anything like Petechiae?

Very hard to see here.

Both eyes are covered in tiny red blood looking dots. She is 6 years old, not sick, no coughing, no crying or anything like that.

It looks different than a rash.

It does to me. But I am not a medical doctor. Does she have them anywhere else?

Sallystyle · 13/05/2014 18:33

nope just both eyes.

Is this something that 111 needs calling over or a GP appointment in the morning if they don't go do you think?

It doesn't change when I press my fingers on them.

called 111 they want to see her now. I thought I was worrying for no reason.

How strange. I get bruising like that if I have been sick. I would call 111, just to be on the safe side. How is her temp?

hellymelly · 13/05/2014 18:46

Sorry, cross posted. Hope she is ok. I think it is always better to be checked out if you aren't sure.

Lonecatwithkitten · 13/05/2014 19:25

Yes that is petechiae, my DD gets in around her eyes because of another condition, but I always get it checked out every time. Phone out of hours they will see her and check her. Every doctor I have ever seen has said that although we know it is a complication of another condition it should still be checked out everytime. Go prepared to strip her of completely for them to do a full body check.

Back already!

It is Petechiae and I am to keep an eye on her overnight and take her back in if it gets worse and if they don't go in the next day or two she will need blood tests but GP doesn't think it is anything to worry about yet :)

I was surprised they got me in so soon but apparently it can be a sign of meningitis so they have to be safe.

She does have a high temp of 37.4 as well.
