Ds1 had a circumcision 2 weeks ago which was medically required. He was never well endowed but now there is nothing and bless him, he is very upset. He is back at school next week in y3 and they go swimming every week, he is really worried. Ds2 is age 3 and bigger although not massive so this is not exaggeration, ds1 is justified. Kids can be so cruel and he is a big boy for his age in every otherrespect and he towers above his classmates and gets some stick already for that.Anyone else that has had similar problems your advice is needed please. I would love to be able to tell him by age 10 it will be massive (lol) - or something else that is positive.

Gosh - are they all comparing at this age already? Poor thing.

aaronsmummy · 28/08/2006 19:39

I know he is positively paranoid - they grow so quickly it makes my head spin - although he does have something to complain about it is non-existent.

He sounds like my DS1, he's also very tall (he's 8, but wears 10/11 year clothes) but 'small'. Luckily he's not noticed/doesn't care. I look at it this way, OK he's the size of an older child, but he isn't iyswim. He's still only 8 and he's built like an 8 year old. Body shape, and willy size will start to develop as he gets older, as the hormones kick in prior to puberty.

My Ds2 is Mr Average/50th centile, and when naked looks 'better endowed' than his brother, but I think it's just that he's more in proportion for his age. I think it all evens out in puberty anyway.

Anyway, can't believe i'm discussing DSs poor willys on here, but at least you know your DS isn't unusual

aaronsmummy · 28/08/2006 19:55

Thanks for that, ds1 is also in 10/11. I just worry because he is so sensitive about the slightest thing. Perhaps the best thing is to teach him how to get changed without everyone seeing his bits.

Aaronsmummy, I think he would be more likely to be picked on if he was seen to be shy about it, and changing secretively probably wouldn't help.
I have three boys of different sizes, and am told by a friend who is one of three brothers that yes they will compare.
It's rotten isn't it, as we want everything to be perfect for them and to have no hangs ups!
I'm sure that when puberty kicks in proportions might well change

geekgrrl · 28/08/2006 20:05

oh, I feel for you and your ds. My ds is only 2.5 yrs but there's also barely anything there (it's about the size of a sultana now! And ds is a big 2 yr old), if he was circ'd there'd be nothing.
Dh really worries about how things will be for him when he realises.

Good to hear things even out in puberty! I can reassure dh a bit then.

aaronsmummy · 28/08/2006 22:04

Roll on puberty then

you ARE joing htat they comapre

aaronsmummy · 28/08/2006 22:13

not really sure whether they are comparing or just pointing out that ds has a smaller one - kids just notice things that are different at this age and poke fun ime

well mine has survived a hole year of wimmign wiht not a competiion at all apart fomr who coul get changed fastest

aaronsmummy · 28/08/2006 22:18

thereare some nasty little buggers at his school though - one told a little girl that she was fat and would die because she was so fat. It's actually a lovely little church school that seems set in a time warp too not a big modern one.

ocd · 28/08/2006 22:19

ocd · 28/08/2006 22:19

i know but at age 7 it's a bit much. Mind it hasn't made her lose any weight.
