can a pharmacist subscribe diprobase for free in England?

I get free prescriptions, can I just walk in to the pharmacy And get w tub of diprobase persribed or do I have to see gp?

Don't want to end up embaressed in there and only get it if its free.

only a GP can prescribe and if you are able to buy it over the counter then you would have to pay for it.

As far as I was aware pharmacists can't prescribe only doctors gp !

AFAIK you need a prescription from a GP but you may well be able to discuss it in a telephone appointment (with tye GP)if you have a clear reason for needing it and it has helped you in the past.

Pharmacists can prescribe painkillers , cole sore treatment , nit lotion etc simple things.

Lots of healthcare professionals including pharmacists can prescribe pretty much anything in the BNF (a few exceptions) as independent prescribers. However not all pharmacists will have done the additional training in order to prescribe and they will only prescribe what they are competent to prescribe and where they are happy that it is safe and ok to do so without further investigation. Because it isn't prescription only they may also deem it not to be a necessary prescription. You would have to ask at the pharmacy, wouldn't worry about being embarrassed though, they won't have a problem with being asked.
