Sorry for TMI - Mega Diarrhoea, 30 weeks pregnant

for 48 hours now I have had the worse Diarrhoea of my life. Literally every half an hour ish for 2 days straight. Was even up in the night several times with it. I honestly don't know how there is anything left! Have also had tummy cramps on and off, although they seem to be improving - was in agony a lot of yesterday.

I had the exact same thing back in January, and missed my Son's 5th birthday as I was in hospital with dehydration. Ridiculously, it's my daughter's birthday and party this weekend and I refuse to miss another unless I am desperate. Bad timing x2!

I am 30 weeks pregnant and want to make sure the baby doesn't come to any harm. I am drinking as much as I can stomach and eating a reasonable amount.

Is this OK?

Also - my bum is sooooo sore. It's like an explosion everytime I go to the toilet and it's now so sore and is bleeding. I am struggling to walk after coming out the bathroom! I have used sudocream - is there anything else I can do to help?

You've had it for 48 hours. No one has caught it because the incubation period isn't over Hmm

Can you at least tell other parents and let them decide? I for one would be extremely angry if you exposed my children to Noro.

even in schools etc kids are allowed back if it's been 24 hours since llast sickness/bowel movement! goodness me!

Yes please let the other parents decide...I would never take my DC to a party if I knew someone had a bug in previous days!

My DD has chronic disease and is admitted into hospital when she catches any virus like yours. Not fair to risk others.

you do realise that anywhere you go in public you will probably come into contact with somebody who has been ill in the last week?

I live in London (as do all party guests) so germs are pretty easy to come by. seriously we would never leave the house If we were that precious about germs! and to be honest I'm pretty confident it wasn't a virus and that it was caused by other health problems I have. But couldn't guarantee that obviously. but it's been well over 24 hours before the party since iv been Absolutely fine.

OP it's 48 hours not 24. Read up: www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Yourchildatschool/Pages/Illness.aspx

And also, I generally hope that people who have been sick have the common decency to follow the 48 hour guidelines. But because many (such as yourself) don't, I ensure I wash my hands to prevent catching it. I do think it's extremely selfish when people ignore guidelines.

Glad you're better, hope all the people you exposed are fine too.

4littleones stomach bugs are highly contagious in a way that other 'germs' aren't. They also tend to make immunosuppressed people very ill in comparison to other illnesses.

Redmasseyinmydrive · 28/04/2014 20:36

I do hope that all the people you have come into contact won't catch this virus. Pleases have the decency to warn others...very selfish if you don't.

allisgood1 · 28/04/2014 22:27

Party is over red. I bet she didn't warn them since it had "been 24 hours and it's not contagious then don'tcha know?" And "germs are everywhere".

For your bum, try Lansinoh, which is meant for sore nipples. It is in a lavender box in the baby aisle at a drugstore. It helps immediately. When I had diarrhea once, I cried because it hurt so much.

Lansinoh is also rather miraculous to put on your lower abdomen if you have a gut and skin is rubbing.
