Head Lice Question

Aghhhh! Calm, calm.....

Have treated DD's lice/nits for a 3rd time yesterday and I STILL found a crawly bugger in her hair this morning.

Have gone through with spray on conditioner and nit comb and think her hair is now a lice free zone. Though not a nit (egg) free zone.

My big question is does the treatment kill the tiny white eggs? The ones that are so difficult to get out. The comb misses them so I try and pick as many out manually as I can. Do I need to keep on picking them out? Or are they dead? Will they all carry on growing and result in head lice?

Tia

The white bits are the empty shells, get a nitty gritty comb, they are great at taking them out.

Headlice are a right bastard. DS got them for nursery recently and DH and I ended up with them too! Are you treating the whole family of just your DD? We got rid of them using Hedrin Once on everyone at the same time and using a Nitty Gritty comb which are fab

I would second Hedrin Once and treating the whole family at the same time. Seems to have worked for us. We've also been using cheap tea tree shampoo and leave in spray.

I'd agree with all the advice given. Comb with nitty gritty, then Hedrin once. Once they're clear weekly surveillance combing with the nitty gritty.

Thanks all!

Never heard of the nitty gritty comb! If it gets the little white eggs out I will be incredibly incredibly happy. Will look online Smile

Just ordered the NG comb. I'm looking forward to being impressed.

Wash, put in plenty conditioner right into the roots and let it soak in, then comb. Loosens some the the egg shells.

BaconAndAvocado · 16/04/2014 20:49

Thanks summer I've never let the conditioner soak in before but that makes sense.

Feeling very excited at the thought of using the nitty gritty!

Hope they are all gone now!

I used to be a manic comber of dc - was so thorough that they never returned after the first combing. The only time I ever had a problem was when I used lyclear, for a change. (except when they came home with a new louse from dfriend, again!)

BaconAndAvocado · 18/04/2014 20:21

Thanks summer

Wellll, used the nitty gritty last night with lots of conditioner and was very impressed with the amount of eggs (dead I hope) it got out. But on inspecting hair this morning found quite a few eggs?? No live bastards ones though Praise be!
