prolapse and bladder sensitivity

Ok so my nickname says it all- just had my 3rd child. After my second I had what was called a mild prolapse- I was a bit uncomfortable and felt like I couldn't run in case my organs would fall out! I also had periods of bladder sensitivity where I felt like I needed to go for a wee frequently.

I now have this again and also a feeling of tenderness when I wee. I'm worried I have more of a prolapse but reluctant to go to the docs just yet. Its 4 months since i gave birth so thought maybe i should just do more pelvic floor exercises first?

anyone else had a similar experience- did it get better? I also really want to get fit but worried i won't even be able to run at the moment.

Hi mum! You're not the only Dec '13er to have this , I have a similar problem. Mine is definitely worse this time so I had it looked at but GP just said to do PF exercises. Only other options are pessary or surgery. I know mine improved a lot after my first but it is really a lot worse this time and is limiting my exercise options Sad

Hi better! Yeah I went to the gp last time and got referred for physio but was just given pf exercises to do then got pregnant again so that was that! Yeah the thought of surgery freaks me out and a pessary sounds like just a temporary thing to stop things sagging! Yeah I feel like that- running is such a good thing to do as part of overall fitness that I'd be gutted if I can't do it any more. I guess I just need to find out what I need to do to get to the point where I can run.

I read somewhere that someone said their physio said they'd have to be able to hold their pelvic floor for 10 seconds x 30 before considering running- that's a looong time! So I guess I'll try and work towards that and do some pilates and cycling in the meantime. Good luck with yours- let me know if you get any other good advice or breakthroughs! These kiddies don't half wreck our bodies!
