Hi, I didn't really know where to post this but thought General health was the best place.
I have had pelvic pain ever since having my daughter, wich was almost 2 years ago now and we are planning on our second one fairly soon and wanted to know if it's nornal and weather or not it will affect me in the next pregnancy e.g. more painfull throughout the pregnancy and birth etc. And then if it will be worse after the next baby.
I would like to add as well that I did do rather a lot straight after having my daughter and probably did way too much and should have rested but it's not in me to sit abd do nothing so I wonder if this has had this affect on my pelvis and what can I do cure the pain ? :( quite fed up of it now and worried it won't go away!

this really sounds like SPD or now called PGP- pelvic girgle pain. It is quite common in pg but even many GP's won't know much about it. It happens when you have a bit too much relaxin in your system and the pelvic area becomes unstable causing pain in any no. areas incl pubic bone, hips, any bit around pelvis- you describe the pain v well, bruised feeling and in the bones as well. There can be a mechanical weakness too making it worse. I had it with both pg's and I would advise you to get a bit of help with managing it and getting strong pelvic floor and core muscles BEFORE you get pg again. I found 2nd one it was alot worse- although it did go away in between the pg's but my kids are 2 and 4 so ther is a gap of about 2.5 yrs.
Get referred to a women's physio through your doctor, in fact ask for a MRI of your hips too but they will probably refuse at this stage.
I cannot stress this enough- DO PILATES and alot of kegel exercises as well as whatever the physio teaches you. get as strong as poss for your next pg.
I had a cs first time and didnt reall have long enough in between to get strong again in the core muscles. I did aqua aerobics in my 2nd pg and that was a godsend- do that now if you find pilates too much or are worried about learning it.
lastly if you can afford it seeing a chiropracter, especislly one for pg ladies issues, can help alot too. Good luck, if people arent helpful/ knowledgable than keep looking. There are peeps out there that can help. Pelvic Partnership is a website you can also check out.
