Gp has just told me I have rosacea. I suspected it myself but he didn't really give me any information other than pack me off with metronidazole cream. Oral antibiotics were suggested but as I'm prone to thrush with any antibs I thought I'd try the cream first.

I assume I need to bin my cleansers/moisturisers? I'm using a micellular cleansing water and boots no 7 moisturiser. Are there any particular products I should use and ones I should avoid like the plague? What about make-up and sun care lotions? Make-up brushes etc?

Do food and dietary changes help at all? I did ask about exercise as I know it's a trigger of mine and I run 3/4 times a week but he assured me it wouldn't make it worse in the long-term, is this true?

Sorry for all the questions but it's something I would like to get on top of as I'm becoming increasingly paranoid and self-conscious about my skin. A search on the internet just worried me :(

Thanks ilovepower that wasn't as scary as some of the ones I've clicked on.

Anyone any suggestions re make of skincare. Don't want to be spending an absolute fortune trying stuff for it to end up in the bin?

I have roseacea. I use veil cover cream as my make up. I gave up with lotions and potions. I'm happy enough not to use meds as it's been a while for me and I have always had facial excema.

I use a basic moisturiser too.

Veil cover is prescribed too. You can be referred to a skin clinic via charity changing faces. :). They will get right shading for you too.

Try La Roche Posay - the wash off cleanser in the pump bottle. It's what I use and whilst it won't cure it, it seems to calm things down.

There is a brand called Pevonia which has products specifically for Rosacea sufferers. I have found it to be very good at calming down the redness.

Thank you for the recommendations. Right off to read reviews, what a perfect excuse to spend some money on myself!
