Overlapping toes in a toddler

Wondering if this happens naturally or is it down to shoes? My DD's middle toe on one foot seems to curl under the one next to it but she's not had too-small shoes (more like the opposite.) Wondering if I should talk to HV about it.

Hi, I would say that yes you should speak to someone - HV I would guess would be first port of call, or chiropodist. I am a reflexologist so have done a little about development of/ deformities of feet (but am in no way qualified to diagnose),and from what you describe I would guess is either caused by posture, or perhaps she is curling her toes to grip her shoes if they are slightly too loose?
Hope this helps, as I said I am not any where near as qualified as say a chiropodist, just my best guess!

Hiya,
I had something similar like this, but it was my 4th toe overlapped my third toe. My dp thought it was due to shoes, but it wasn't, it was just a natural thing.
I had an op at about ten years old on my one foot to try to sort it out. It has helped, but even now its still not completly flat etc.
Hope that helps

I remember my brother had this problem, which my Dad solved by bandaging the toes into the correct shape - but I think you should see a chiropodist or similar to ensure that this is done correctly!
