Concussion - what signs to look for

Hello
DS1 was bouncing on the bed and whacked himself with full force at the base of his nose, in the moustache area. There was an almighty crack, much weeping and ice applied and neurofen administered. His hand eye co-ordination doesn't seem to be affected and none of his teeth are loose.
Panic over or is there anything else we should be doing?

Much obliged wise ones for any tips

We were told to watch for any signs of drowsiness, vomiting, difficulty in waking when asleep, that sort of stuff ( dd1 was pushed down a flight of stairs by a jealous child on her fourth birthday, dented a brick wall with the force of it). Poor little thing, hope he's ok, and you too when you recover from the shock.

If it's any help, the docs said it's impossible to break a nose at that age because it's basically cartilege. We had only lived at that house for a few weeks when her accident happened, she started nursery with an enormous black eye and an orange sized lump on her forehead. The looks we got.

My 23mo DD landed on her nose yesterday and apparantly there was blood everywhere. I wasn't there, she was with daddy - poor man, first time he'd had her all day on his own and all was going well till this She did cry but today has been fine. Nose has been running a bot and a little pink, but no bruising.

I think the tears would be from shock. Just keep an eye on him very so often and make sure he isn;t being sick, etc (as already said). Any worries call your GP or NHS dirct.

thanks everyone
Well he did vomit but we think that was shock and he's sleeping peacefully now. The fact that her reached for his bottle with both hands was a good sign wasn't it?

OOh poor your DD Hula, and your Dh he must have been mortified. Sorry to desert you in the bar earlier, posts crossed.

Thanks again.

Suzy - How is your gorgeous boy now? Couldn't check yesterday as had the migraine from hell, but was thinking of you. Hope all is well.

Missed this, suzy, hope he's OK now. FWIW, I have always been told that blows to the back of the head are the most dangerous.

He's absolutely fine, in fact the next day he was perky as usual and had a vague bruise about his lip. In fact his hand eye co ordination was such that he was able to catch a chicken on Saturday when we went to visit friends on a farm.
Sorry for being so panicky, and thanks for your advice and concern
