advice re. changing dentists and any future problems with teeth....

Hi, am almost at the end of a dental implant procedure and have received fantastic dental care etc., however, this dentist is a fair distance to travel to and ideally, I'd like to register in the town where I live, purely for practical reasons. But I am worried that if anything should go wrong over the next 2 years then I would end up paying for the new dentist to sort it out..... any advice from dentists themselves would be very much appreciated (am envisaging lots of other treatment over next few years.....

Why should you need lots of other treatment? It's not inevitable if you look after everything as taught by your dentist or hygienist.

If anything goes wrong with the implant, I'm relatively confident the implant dentist would charge you for it as well. Guarantees of work are rare IME.

Where did you get treatment before this two year period? You can see any dentist you like, there is no NHS registration any more.

Thanks for advice, mrsmorton - I have an ongoing list of things I need to get sorted, some due to a fall I had... , so I know that I'm going to be back and forth for next year/2 years or so. Didn't realise you didn't have to be registered with a particular dentist, so thanks for that. Will ask my implant dentist about any possible guarantee as I'm sure a certain time frame was mentioned, so will get that confirmed and go from there - thanks again.
