Hi, i can't really give you any info, but I had it done myself at 13months. It was both little toes. Its never given me any hassles since, and just the tiniest of 'Y' shaped scars.

Sorry for lack of advice, I'm sure she'll be just fine.

my son had a toe straightened when he was 8. really quick operation. they just made a small cut under his toe to release the tendon and his toe is straight now. he had his toe bandaged for a few days afterwards and thats it. it was his second toe and it used to bend right over!

Hi

I had this done on both feet(middle toes) at the one time 3 yrs ago. I was in overnight and was off work for 3 months (I think it was really due to the fact it was both feet) I had them straightened by them breaking the toes then rods with hooks on the end drilled in to help straighten them and they cut across the top below the knuckle. My toes were completely curled under so it was quite a drastic op and it did hurt for a while. Alot of discomfort was the awkwardness as both feet were both plaster cast. At night is the worst as you cant get comfortobale but I found that elevating them on pillows helped and keeping them up during the day to reduce any swelling. Its not one of the best operations to go in for but the results are worth it as now I can finlly walkl without discomfort and wear decet looking shoes. Hope this doesnt scare you, let me know how she gets on and remeber kids heal quicker!

I had my big toe straightened 14 August 2006. To correct a deformity of my toe that bent sideways. Used to cause pressure on ball of my foot.

Had a general anaesthetic and then a local injected into foot while in theatre. Had no pain at all for 16 hours then it began. OMG! first 2 days were agony. Even though foot was bandaged up I could see my straight toe at the very top and was well pleased.

After 3 days the pain eased and today - 7th day has been my 2nd pain free day. No more walking on crutches but it is to damn itchy. Skin/stitches either way Im told its a good sign.

Get my dressing changed on my 12th day and wear a support shoe for 6 weeks and Im done.

Keep my screw in thankfully; heard horror stories about getting them removed.

People told me (including Doctor, Surgeon and Chiropodist) that it is not pleasant having bones removed, shaved off and screws put in. But Id personally recommend it too anybody. Id even do it all over again if I had too. (Which maybe the case in a few years with the other toe). Hope this answers your question.

Best of luck with her operation. Results are AMAZING!!! xx
