For the past few months I had Insomnia which has now turned in to me sleeping on average 20 hours per day , I struggle to keep my eyes open etc .
I have been so tired for the past 12 Days my Ds has had to stay with my mum which is not fair on him at all , but I just can't risk falling asleep while in charge of him iyswim .
To top it off for the last week I have been ridiculously hungry , no matter what I eat I'm still hungry (no crap but lots of filling foods) I usually have a very small appetite yet now I'm just constantly hungry Confused

I am going to see my Doctor this week but won't be until Wednesday.

Does anybody have an idea of what this could be or how I can stop feeling like this ??
I need to look after my Ds

You know it really could be just as simple as stress.
Patients hate it when they are told this, as they feel they are being dismissed, but honestly stress causes all sorts of very serious and debilitating symptoms.
If you've ruled out diabetes, pregnancy, anaemia, pernicious anaemia, thyroid disorders and post viral/chronic fatigue syndrome it's worth considering .

I darent do a pregnancy test Blush

Its an emergency appointment I'm trying to get as otherwise if I just book a normal one I will be waiting 3-4 weeks to be seen .
I said I really need to be seen and I were told to go to the ooh doctor though I'm not sure its an ooh gp I need to see iyswim .

Not my meds causing this as I have been on the same ones/dosage for a few years & I'm under a lot less stress than I have been recently as well .

Not feeling at all better , Ds has had to come home and I'm really struggling , practically having to use matchsticks to keep my eyes open , I have also started to feel low on blood sugar iyswim as within a split second I can go from been ok to almost fainting Confused

If I can't get an appointment tomorrow then I'm changing GP

Thanks everybody Smile

If you can't get an appointment tomorrow, then see the OOH GP. You really need to be seen by a doctor, to have blood tests and to find out if there is an urgent physical problem that needs treating such as diabetes.

Yes, please go and see the OOH doctor.

Why don't you get a test for diabetes, OP? Your pharmacist can test you for that. Can you afford to get it done? (I know you said you couldn't pay to get to the doctor.)

One of my students who's very, very heavy said she was going home from college, eating a family pack of ice cream and then sleeping all evening. She's been found to be diabetic and is much better now she's having treatment.

Good luck, I am going through cycles like this, insomnia for a few days then sleeping so much I barely wake up. I hate it as it ruins being able to do anything at all. I want to just sleep normally, but I recognise I am under a lot of stress and also am quite ill physically, so trying to go easy on myself.

Hope you get some answers OP. x

Any news OP?

Any update?

I went through a period of needing to sleep 14+ hours a day and feeling constantly exhausted. GPs said I was fine Confused for years.

Then I went and got allergy test done privately. I went on a detox - caffeine, sugar, wheat, beef and basil- and since then I've been back to sleeping normally even after detox ended.

Agreed, it's the first thing they're going to ask you and if you are pregnant you need to know sooner rather than later anyway.

I am hyperthyroid - ridiculous appetite and no sleep. Rapid heart rate - eating everything and not sleeping. Doesn't correlate.
Hypo is weight gain, more sleep, low appetite.
Liver problems (have had in the past) = constant sleep but cannot digest fat. Literally eat buttered bread and puke. Does that sound familiar?

You need to see the GP OP. Thanks

I was going to suggest hypothyroidism and possible pituitary issues as well. Sounds a lot like me before I was diagnosed. Hope you feel better soon x
