What's wrong with me? Any ideas?

I just feel like crap. Which isn't that helpful I know, so I'll try to list my symptoms.
I'm incredibly tired, that deep, bone aching tiredness where everything is too much effort. I could sleep for 20 hours a day if I were allowed.
And I have abdo pain, sort of a period type pain, on the left side only, I've had this on & off for years & have been told it's kidney stones, then it wasn't kidney stones, then it was to do with my coil, so I had that removed last summer, I've been scanned for cysts & that was all ok. The pain comes & goes, no pattern, I've had it this time for a few days & it's horrible, like contractions.
My last period was 2 weeks late, and I had this pain & tiredness so went off to the GP thinking I might be peri menopausal but my FSH & LH were normal, as were my iron, ferritin, thyroid & full blood counts. My liver function tests were abnormal & I had another load of blood tests today to see what's happening there. My GP thinks it's a bit of a red herring though & I have a fatty liver (I am overweight & every symptom seems to get blamed on that, but I've been overweight for quite a few years & have only felt like this for a few months!)
Also! I have fainted a few times recently, I've never done that before! And I feel light headed & dizzy most days. I also feel really bloated, which is rare for me, fat yes, bloated no. Smile
I did wonder if the abdo pain might be PID? I've had BV several times in the past & I know it can go on to cause PID. I suppose yet another trip to the GP is in order. They'll be getting me my own chair in the waiting room soon!
Any ideas? Has anyone had anything similar & got a diagnosis?
Sorry to whinge. I just feel like poo!
Btw. Not pregnant! Smile

I am not a doctor. You should see one and ignore me.

But Addisons Disease springs to mind: www.nhs.uk/conditions/addisons-disease/Pages/Introduction.aspx

ProfPlumSpeaking · 18/02/2014 17:48

ah, except it comes with loss of appetite and you didn't mention that... Addisons makes you too tired to eat, I think.

LabRat72 · 18/02/2014 17:57

I will mention that to my GP, thank you. Although I definitely don't have the weight loss! if only Smile
It's just bloody annoying, well, more than annoying, I don't want to have time off work but I came home early today because I just felt so knackered I couldn't see straight (was trying to look down a microscope & my vision was all over the place)
My GP will just tell me to lose weight, and I know that needs addressing, but it's cited as the cause of every symptom I ever have, I'm pretty sure that if I rocked up with a broken arm it'd be because I'm a lardarse.
Oh well. Smile

Could be coeliac disease? I was very tired with that and had awful bloating at mealtimes.

LabRat72 · 19/02/2014 06:40

Thanks Ruby, I'll look into that. Can that develop at 41? Maybe I should cut out gluten & see what happens.

endometriosis?

Germgirl · 19/02/2014 12:39

NC. I'm LabRat.
I did wonder about endometriosis. I've wondered about that for ages, since I first had the abdo pain several years ago. I have asked various GPs about it a few times but they're always reluctant to take it further. I'm not sure why.
I sound like an absolute idiot don't i? I don't think I am, I'm just fed up of feeling like crap. I'm off sick today, just couldn't face getting up & going in. I haven't got up yet!
I feel like I haven't slept for days, the pain isn't too bad today but the fatigue and light headed feeling are horrible. I keep crying too!

fivecupsoftea · 19/02/2014 13:15

sorry to hear you have been feeling so awful. There is a condition that makes people feel lightheaded, bloated and have visual disturbances and pain, and also makes people faint, called POTS. There is a website POTSUk.org and an american site: www.dinet.org (the americans call the conditiion dysautonomia). Most GP's have never heard of it, but there are consultants (either cardiologists or neurologists) who are specialists in it.

When I was trying to understand my lightheadedness I came accross hyperparathyroidism which also makes people lightheaded.

Hope you get to the bottom of it, don't take no for an answer from the GP, there is clearly something physically wrong. GP's can be dismissive about women fainting, but it is a sign that something is not right.

RubySparks · 19/02/2014 13:18

Yes coeliac can develop at any age, there is a genetic factor and the something triggers it, I was mid 40s when diagnosed. Get a blood test from gp before cutting out gluten as it can give false negative if you stop eating gluten before the test.

sisterofmercy · 19/02/2014 13:21

Can you get a second opinion from other GPs?

Germgirl · 19/02/2014 13:24

Thank you everyone. I will go back to the GP. I do get fed up with being told that everything that's wrong with me is because I'm fat. I know I'm fat & I am doing something about it. I just feel like anWine other symptoms I have are automatically discounted as something to do with my weight. But I will persevere. Thank you.

Germgirl · 19/02/2014 13:25

Oops. Errant wine glass there! Fat fingers you see! Smile

vitaminC · 19/02/2014 13:28

Definitely ask for the blood test for coeliac, but don't give up gluten until afterwards, as the results would be distorted!

Have you had a scan to check your ovaries? My first thought was an ovarian cyst, given the location of the pain.

It could also be something intestinal, such as diverticulitis, although at 41 you're a little younger than the typical sufferer.

In any case, I'd definitely be asking for an abdominal ultrasound or CT scan! Keep hassling your doctor until you get taken seriously!

Germgirl · 19/02/2014 13:42

I had an external and internal scan a few years ago which was completely normal so I don't think it's a cyst (although one could have appeared since then). I'm going to phone for an appointment this afternoon, I won't get one but I might get a phone appointment & they'll then book me in for a real appointment next week hopefully.
I won't change my diet in the meantime & will push for some more investigations.
I hate the thought that I me of those people who is constantly at the doctors but I just feel SO crappy!

Germgirl · 19/02/2014 13:43

I me one of those people?!! I AM one of those people. I really need to learn to type!
