Aging and tanning

As you age do you tan differently?

This summer I have noticed that my nose is getting unattractively rosy, and my decolletage is, too. Also, the skin is vaguely wrinkly - not quite turkey-watttle, but remeniscent of that. I've been very particular about sunscreen, and haven't burnt at all.

I remember as a child that my mum used to clip a seriously naff white cone-thing to her glasses to cover her nose...is that where I'm heading?

hmmm that nose cone is an attractive look!

Dunno about tanning more as you get older, I am still young and gorgeous (er 38!) so I'll let you know when I'm older!

If you wear the appropriate sunscreen then you won't colour in anyway. I am very fair and wear about a factor 30. There is not a sign of any colour. I was always told that a tan is the sign of damaged skin. I can never quite figure out how sometimes you are told that a tan is the skin's self protection and other times it is the sign of damage.

i have a crepeey decolletage

PrettyCandles · 07/08/2006 09:59

Urgh crepey - that's just it Cod.

I wear factor 15 on not very sunny days, and factor 30 on sunny days, plus I usually cover up with hats and big shirts, but it's difficult to cover up in the swimming pool or on the beach, so inevitably I get some sun exposure.

And until this summer I thought that I too was still young and gorgeous (er 40!). I don't mind being old and gorgeous (quite like my white hairs), but really don't want to be old and frumpy. Or crepey.

I wish I had enough norkage that could be termed 'decolletage' - wouldn't even care if it was crepey.

ocd · 07/08/2006 16:02

crepey not creepy

PrettyCandles · 08/08/2006 13:57

Crepey=creepy!

Especially after a few more years, when the crepe starts creeping south.

So no-one has any suggestions how to avoid the crepification and reddening (other than avoiding the sun completely, obviously)? No magic £100-a-jar cream?
