Itching around the bottom, especially at night.

nikkie · 05/08/2006 18:55

That was quick, thats what she is complaining about, do you need to see gp or pharmacist?

if you look at his bottom (nice, I know) at bedtime, you may see tiny little white threadlike worms. For girls, they may stray into the vaginal area, I'm afraid, so she may get itchy there too.

If you think she has worms, the whole family needs treating - there is a 'family pack' of pills called Ovex from chemists which are chewable. Encourage her to wash hands particularly thoroughly after going to loo, with hot water and soap and a nail brush under nails. change sheets on bed, encourage her to wear pants in bed for a week after treatment. Make sure towels are kept seprate too.

Hope it isn't worms, as they are a pain to get rid of and jolly uncomfy for sufferers!

You can get tablets from the pharmacist & you are advised to treat the whole family.
