shingles follows ina line along a nerve looks like blistery spots and also makes you feel very tired and worn out. I have had them along my back and was a nightmare..takes 2 wks to get over.

Sounds just like what I had whilst pregnant with ds2 hope this helps

biglips · 05/08/2006 18:48

so it is shingles then?

OP posts:

I would guess it is. Mine started off on the top of my arm as blisters. Then following the nerve ending spread to my neck and face all on the right side of my body. She needs to get it checked out asap. For it can be extremely painful, also very contagious too so you and/or children can get chickenpox from it. Rare occurence but it does happen. Tell her calamine lotion will help soothe the pain and give her my sympathies. Sadly I'm left with a scare from the first few blisters as I burst them.

Sounds like shingles, my Dad has just come down with it and is poorly, said it feels like he's been hit with a steamroller pain wise and has the rash/blisters on back and stomach. Been told its only contageous if touched (and Ive touched them!) and cannot pass chicken pox on.
Thats what his doc said but we've heard different versions to be honest.

Can she get to primary care to see an on call GP tomorrow?

No offence if your mum isn't that old, but older people can get it much worse than younger. Having said that, dh took 3 months to get over shingles in the eye and ear. His eye sight is damaged too.

There are tablets that can be taken to reduce the effects, but they need to be taken early. Hope this helps.

Mum will go to docs on monday, she gone home now.

There is a chance that the person who got shingles and had touched it, can give the person (who had never had chicken pox) chicken pox.

mum is not that old and i think its boiled down to her new job cos she is working 60 hours a week and is so knackered as being a wine rep. She is looking for a new job.

i was convinced it was shingles as we both had a look on the websites for piccys and signs of them - it made me go
