should I take the morning after pill?

I'm ebf and on the mini pill. Doctor told me I have a 3 hour window with this pill then it becomes ineffective.

I forgot to take my Saturday pill yesterday (between 8.30am- 11.30am).

We had sex last night.

As I'm exclusively breastfeeding do I not need to take the morning after pill?

What does it say on the pill's pack information about missing pills? How late did you take it?

Yes, it is possible to conceive whilst EBF, there's no protection if you periods have returned, your baby is over 6 months or if you are not feeding on demand and round the clock. Even then, there's quite a fail rate.

I think MAP is safe when BFing, and if PG would be disastrous it would be the sensible thing to do.

Baby is 5 months and am feeding at night still. The packet says the same thing - ineffective if not taken within 3 hours.

I only noticed I didn't take yesterday's pill yhis morning, so 24 hours later.

If you don't want to be pg, then you need to take the MAP as soon as possible

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. She now has a gorgeous second child.

If the timing is wrong for a second child, you need the MAP. ASAP.

I didn't want to be pregnant, took the MAP, it didn't work...

Had a 14 month gap between my middle 2 dc and it was fantastic.

FlyAwayToMalibu · 02/02/2014 22:13

Oh dear god really? I can't be pregnant again, I have a 2 yo and a 5 mo, we don't want anymore. Would the MAP be effective if I take it tomorrow? Missed on Sat, MAP taken on Monday? And where can I get it from??

You've got me scared now. It's highly unlikely though isn't it?

I would like to repeat what CMOT said - if you don't mind being pregnant, then don't bother. However, if you don't want to be pregnant, then take the MAP.

You can get it (free) from GP (or other NHS clinic) or from pharmacists (£25 ish).

It's effective up to 72 hours from unprotected intercourse (can be varied a bit if you know you likely date of ovulation). Coils can also be fitted as emergency contraception (Ithink up to 5 days).

And do double check from your pill pack leaflet how long you need to take additional precautions for.

You can also have a coil fitted for emergency contraception.
