I am 36 and never been able to get pregnant. I just come back from the Gynaecologist to find I had a urinal septum. On top of all my other issues, Mirena Coil, PCOS, Underactive Thyroid. And on the left uterus there was a lump, remove and a mirena place in the right. My hormones are so disfunctional. I have PCOS and an Underactive thyroid. It's impossible to loose any weight.
I'm naturally active, but bleed constantly and am very tired a lot of the time. They tell me I can still get pregnant even though I have given all hope as my left is in working order.
It is very emotional being a women and not a lot of people really understand. Best of luck the best we can do is just stay on top of the doctors appointments and check things regularly have your own health care plan as well as the doctors. I did and at last I now know.
And to keep a brave face for my friends like nothing is wrong is difficult. I get so frustrated with it at times.Struggle to loose weight.
Just have to keep trucking I guess.

A number of things here:

  1. If you have an underactive thyroid, your hormones are all over the place and a mirena coil is possibly not the best idea.
  2. The symptoms that cause you to need the mirena may be as a result of your underactive thyroid, which may not be being optimally treated.
  3. The PCOS diagnosis is probably also tied in with your thyroid. It’s all connected.
  4. If you cannot lose any weight, this also suggests to me that your underactive thyroid is not optimally treated.
  5. What do you take for your thyroid – and how much?
  6. Do you know what your last thyroid tests results were? If you don’t know, ask your GP surgery for a copy of your results, with the reference ranges. Under the Data Protection Act, it’s your data and they can’t withhold it.
  7. You’re obviously not going to get pregnant with the mirena in place, but for the record, the NICE guidelines say that if you are pregnant or TTC, your TSH should be under 2.
  8. It sounds as if you need someone to take a holistic approach and look at everything together instead of everything separately.

Hi there, yes i take thyroxin, 100mcg, they say it is not a very big difference in the under active thyroid but enough, but I thought it was all connected somehow. I'm not sure where to take the next step with it. It is the infrequency of the bleeding. My hole of adult life I've had trouble with it. Next to no sex life, one very patient man. I watch my intake of food and fluids, very particular personality now. Never used to be. I take Proxen when the bleeding gets very clotty like. Yes I think some fresh thoughts would be good at this stage. Any suggestions?
