Hi Sorry to be so morbid but my gran has chronic lung disease (pulmonary Fibrosis) and is really struggling just now. Does anyone have any experience of this or can anyone give me advice on anything that helps. Thanks and again sorry to be so depressing.

My grandad suffers with aspestosis of the lungs and lung cancer, i know this isnt the same but has many of the same symptoms and effects.

I feel for you i really do its difficult to watch my grandad struggling for breath. He has now got oxygen installed at home and although nothings going to cure him, it does seem to ease things a little.

I dont have much advice but i do know what your going through if its any help im here to listen

Thanks, she has oxygen through the whole house and even has a protable one in the very rare event that she gets out. It is really hard to see them like that isnt it. Last week she wasnt well and they had the dr out who gave her 2 new tablets., It was amazing, She bounced back and was out nearly every day but one of the tablets (which we now know to be a steroid) was only for 8 days and she has gone right back to how she was. This is a horrible disease and it is really upsetting. Thanks for the reply.

Thats ok, it is so hard my mum and i got into my grandparents everyday.

The dr has told us all to expect the worst soon but so far he's holding in there. He's on a mulitude of pills and potions the things thats helped him recently is Forticips milkshake drinks they kind of build you up, not sure if youv'e heard of them the g.p prescribed them.

Its little things that cheer him up, a cross word a book ect, the worst thing for him was loosing his independence which was his life line. so he likes to feel hes still needed.

He also doesnt go out a great deal but sitting in the garden with his portable oxo cheers him up. I think the hot weather makes things worse for him.

Hi yes I have heard of these shakes, I might suggest them to my grandad and get him to speak to the dr. For my gran it is the lack of memory and the inability to do simple things like make a cup of tea that get to her. I have 2 dd and it doesnt matter how bad she gets their weekly visits really cheer her up. I dont know what her prognosis is but I will keep my fingers crossed that they find something that at least helps.
