oh sweetie

deep breath and calm down

it will take longer than 5 weeks to recover from labour and you also have loads of relaxin(hormone designed to relax muscles and ligaments so you can give birth) rushing round your body for up to a year so everything is softer

keep up your kegels when you can .. don't freak it out .. its NORMAL

do mention to doctor so they can reassure you .. s/he will check to ensure no prolapse

congratulations on birth of ds2

All I can say, is that it is only 5 weeks on, didn't have a VB, so not really sure about what is normal.
I would def mention it at your 6 week check, good luck

If you have a weak pelvic floor and /or prolapse they can refer you to a specialist physio in the first instance.

Blimey, I didn't have the guts to feel down below for MONTHS after each birth ! After my first vb I couldn't even FEEL the muscles to know whether they were weak or not!!!!.
I'm not joking but I felt like I had privates the size of a baboon's arse. I felt like they were so low and enormous. (TMI) It was swelling and bruising. It subsided and I got the old pf muscles back to an acceptable degree. It's probably nothing atall. Always worth asking at your check, just to allay any fears

i know what you mean about feeling everything is going to fall out - it is alarming isn't it. Things will just start to naturally feel better with time (and the excercises). Definitely mention it at your check up.

trinityrhino · 31/07/2006 18:58

ugh that falling out feeling is hideous, I remember that

By all means mention it at your check but don't panic, it sounds normal only 5 weeks after birth

Slinkstah, I am sure that your poor pelvic floor is just a bit traumatised after having 2 babies. Remember that the pregnancy itself damages the floor as well as the pushing. Your DS is only 5 weeks old so your pelvic floor is still healing.

Dr will check for prolapse at 6 weeks check. If you are very worried about lack of tone, ask for a referral to an obstetric physio. There are various aids and appliances which they can use to help you get it all back on track.

I had a CS and was incontinent (completely) for over a fortnight post birth. The obs physio told me that even though I hadn't pushed, my pelvic floor had been weakened and would recover in time and with exercise. It did. Can even trampoline now .

Chin up honey and take care X
