Biopsy Results, worrying!

Hello, DF had surgery yesterday, was told beforehand by the surgeon that she would laser away a lump on his voicebox and he then wasn't to speak for 48 hours, job done,
Well, when he came round surgeon says she didnt laser lump but has taken a biopsy, and DF will need a scan and then to go back her her in 2 weeks for results,
Of course we are now all thinking the worst, why did she change her plan? Obviously found something she didnt expect, DF didn't question her, was in shock I think,
So now a worrying 2 week wait Sad Any advice anyone?

Only that a friend's dad had the same thing, but with more symptoms (hoarse voice). His was cancer of the larynx, but after radiotherapy he is 100% well and has very low risk of reoccurring.

I'm only telling you this so that you, and your dad, know that 'even' supposedly worst case scenarios from biopsies aren't necessarily the end of the world...but at this point, I would think the odds are in your dad's favour that the lump will turn out to be harmless. I think taking biopsies if there is the least concern is always the route surgeons take, and if there is ANY doubt, best to scan and biopsy before slicing anything.

Best of luck x

Thanks Elibean DF has had a hoarse voice, that's why the investigations started, it's just confusing why the surgeon didnt do what she intended to, it's a waiting game I know, but I can't help but worry

Of course you're worried. I think friend's DF had very similar scenario then, because originally they were going to remove during surgery - but during the operation, they decided not to, and used radiotherapy instead. That was after the original diagnosis, though. They already knew it was cancer, but thought it more superficial than it turned out to be.

But as I said, radiotherapy totally nixed it - he's got higher than 95% chance of it never coming back, and is bouncing around the place better than ever Smile

That's encouraging Elibean Iv said to myself that I can't change the outcome and will just have to wait it out, what will be will be,
Just feel sorry for DF as I can see the worry on his face
Thankyou

Elibean do you mind me asking how old your friends DF was and how was his voice after the radiotherapy?
