after years of being red all the time, always blushing, always getting red when embarrassed/nervous/stressed/angry/drinking, going literally purple during and for an hour after doing exersice, i have now realsised that this is what i probably have

Im 29 and have had this since i was at least a teen.

Is it worth going doctors? or will he just send me away telling me i need to just suffer as i have for the last 15 years? is there anything that can actually be done?

I have this and think it is worth going to the doctor. I saw a dermatologist and was given creams and pills. Not sure if there has been any major improvement but he certainly did not dismiss it. I also bought glycolic (sp) acid which was recommended highly here and I think that has made a difference.

Definitely go to the drs.
I started getting pustular roseacea 3 years ago, which is hormonal and flares up in the sun. It goes down within 3 or 4 days though.
I was given antibiotic and also a gel called Metrogel (I think)

Saw a dermatologist who said it would probably diminish as I went through the menopause.....and I only had 1 flare up last year.

It's horrible.

I have nose Rosacea, the doc gave me a cream called Rosex which I have to use twice a day otherwise my nose is red and blistered and really sore.

I used to. I had a 2 week course of antibiotics which cleared it up. I do go like a beacon sometimes when I drink alcohol now though.

It was Metronidazole.

It's worth seeing the GP because there is a chance it might not be rosacea but something that looks similar and is more easily treated, and if not, there are things the GP can prescribe to help.

Having chemo has cleared mine up but before that it got quite bad and I went to the GP who diagnosed it and gave me Metro gel. I can't remember how long I used it for but it really helped. I started using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser, quite expensive but very gentle. Then had chemo and now, touch wood, rosacea is gone and I can use different products.

Thanks everyone i think im going to book an appointment for next week and hopefully he will take it seriously and give me something to try.

i hate it, i get so so embarrassed with it. Im quite shy anyway, so it doesn't take me much to blush if attention is on me, and when i blush i literally go purple all over... its horrid and worrying about it makes it happen more. I thought i was just unlucky to blush extra badly and go red at inconvenient times, but i really do think its this. i also have visible blood vessels on my cheeks which i thought was from being sun burnt when i was a teen, but maybe its related to this.
