PCOS ... ?

Sorry if there are already any live threads on here, I've not looked tbh and I'm still fairly new here...

When I was at the hospital after having my 2nd MC the DR mentioned at the time I could have PCOS or Endemetriosis, due to the MC's ...

Now at the time I dismissed the idea, mainly because my cycle is pretty regular, no massively heavy periods etc and I generally thought that if you were diagnosed with either one of these, your cycle would be a little messy with heavy, painful periods ?? Is this always the case?

Since having my 2nd MC (May 2012), I have steadily gained weight, going from a (larger) 10, through to 12 and now a (smaller) 14 - I say I'm a 13 as I'm in-between, which is very frustrating!

Anyway, had thyroid checked etc, that came back fine. So now I am thinking that maybe the MC and the unexplained weight gain (I don't eat an awful lot) may be caused by either one?

Can anybody who may suffer with either please jump on here with any advice and run down of your symptoms ?

Thanks x

Hello there, I have PCOS. I'm sorry, sounds like you've had a rough time.

As far as I'm aware PCOS makes it difficult to conceive but does not increase the chances of miscarriage. It's pretty easily tested for. I had a couple of blood tests and an ultrasound of my ovaries which showed one was completely shot to bits and the other was pretty well covered too. It does cause weight gain, and for me the weight gain w's very rapid and difficult to control at times when my hormones are out of kilter, like when I stopped the Pill, and during and after pregnancy.

You need to see a sympathetic GP who can help you get to the bottom of it. The unexplained weight gain alone is worth investigating.

Thanks Mellow and Natasha, I'm hoping to make an initial GP appointment this week. When I was scanned early on with 1st MC (when the heartbeat was actually there) the Sonographer told me there were small cysts on my ovaries and when I panicked (!) and asked what they were, she told me they were 'pregnancy cysts' which were actually good for a pregnancy (having Googled this I'm wondering if she meant 'Luteul Cysts') but I'm wondering now whether she was mixed up and they were actually cysts related to PCOS? Hmm
