Tinnitus

I first noticed this approx 18m ago.... A few months later, it turned out that I was anaemic, from what I've read, tinnitus can be a symptom. Well my hb is now ok at 12.4 (or thereabouts, can't remember exactly) but my ferritin is only 9, an improvement though not good.
Here's my actual question though - am I stuck with this tinnitus for the rest of my life? I suppose I expected it to go away but here it is still Hmm

That's interesting. I've had tinnitus for a few years now, I've only just been diagnosed anaemic. I didn't know they were related. Perhaps they are, but it's coincidental that you have both? I would love for mine to go. The high pitched ringing I can bear, but at night I hear a really loud low tone ringing and it drives me mad and I can't sleep :(

That's what mine is like. Constant ringing all day then low rumble mostly at night. Drives me insane

DH has tinnitus and has started using white noise to help him sleep. He's less grumpy but I get to 'enjoy' lovely white noise all night too.

CalamitouslyWrong you're a saint! that would drive me mad too! Dotty - is the low tone sometimes not there? Sometimes I don't have it and have been wondering if it's perhaps something to do with my neck or something physical like that?

The low noise (which sounds a bit like the droning noise of a plane going overhead) is usually only at night for me though I sometimes do notice it during the day

I agree Calam - you're a saint!
Dh's snoring keeps me awake more than the tinnitus (don't know whether to laugh or cry about that!)

Well no. He has to put up with me tossing and turning all night and having ludicrous night fevers (due to a condition I have). I'd be mean and unreasonable if I didn't let him do something that helps him to live with his condition.

You get used to the noise after a while. Apparently the white noise helps to minimise the annoyance of the tinnitus, and that means he can sleep better. It's a bit like sleeping next to a motorway, or a plane engine or something (although he plays it very quietly).

Yes the low noise sounds exactly like what I hear and I only notice it at night. Once or twice have noticed in the day. I don't think DH would agree to the white noise.... Although HE has restless legs! Looks like none of us sleep very well :D
