Is there anything that would help stop it soaking through clothes on the way to the bathroom?

Hold a basin up to your mouth.... That should catch the verbal diarrhoea! HTH!

Bigbrassband · 08/01/2014 05:41

Interesting first post!
I would recommend embracing your inner naturist and let it all hang out.

Youhaventseenme · 08/01/2014 05:44

And your ability to spell.

sunnysideup74 · 08/01/2014 06:04

What advice were you given by the hospital?

sunnysideup74 · 08/01/2014 06:23

i was warned this was a possible after-effect while the body adjusts to how it processes fat but didn't realise it would be like this. i see the consultant next week for post op, but having been up for another night in pain i've discovered it's common but can't find any practical advice in the meantime.

I agree with a previous poster that you may want to try googling for products. Then raise it with your doctor next week.

sydlexic · 08/01/2014 07:05

There is a tena lady website that gives advice on which products are needed. I read it recently for MIL who has dementia. Chemist could probably advise you too.

Poloholo · 08/01/2014 07:08

Tena lady or similar may be your friend here

StripyPenguin · 08/01/2014 07:13

If this is a serious post then you need to consider changing your diet and eating less fat, your body can apparently cope with it less when you don't have a gallbladder.

Matildathecat · 08/01/2014 10:31

Stay near the loo? See a doctor? Soak the whole lot in Napisan ? (this works).

It's spelled diarrhoea. Useful to know.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 08/01/2014 14:12

Wow there are some fucking mean people on MN these days. If you think a post is not for real report it ignore. Most trolleys don't tend to post in general health anyway as it isn't as busy.

Oh and the spell check police should fuck off too.

Sorry OP no useful advice sounds like a fairly unpleasant experience for you. Hope you get it sorted.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 08/01/2014 14:13

Or ignore it I meant to say

Ifcatshadthumbs · 08/01/2014 14:14

Trolls, not trolley's! Bloody bastard I pad

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/01/2014 14:19

What about doubling up on night time sanitary pads? Wear bikini bottoms too under clothes.

scaevola · 08/01/2014 14:20

I have to rely on the predictive keyboard to be able to spell diahorrhea (and I bet I'm not alone in that). Mentally, I spell it "dire rear" which does seem like OPs situation.

Look on sites like AgeUK for incontinence products. And Napisan for the washing.

LineRunner · 08/01/2014 14:23

Why bikini bottoms, Giles?

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/01/2014 14:25

The material is usually slightly thicker than normal underwear, and things wipe off/wash out a bit easier

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/01/2014 14:26

And slightly tighter so hold towels in place well

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/01/2014 14:27

Another vote for Tena lady. My dad had his gallbladder out and as I understand it, it means your body really struggles to process fat.

You need to really look at your diet and cut out fats - preferably under medical supervision.

Weegiemum · 08/01/2014 14:40

I really feel for you. I have a neurological problem and sensation is reduced right up to my waist. I don't get much warning when I have to go.

My response (apart from moving to a house with a downstairs loo!) is that I go hourly, by the clock. I often end up moving my bowels when I had no idea I needed to go.

Accidents happen. Presoaking in a bio liquid then washing (I also use Lakeland's Oxi Plus stain remover) as hot as possible in a bio powder helps.

Bigbrassband · 08/01/2014 14:48

Tena pants, not pads
Wear dark clothing on your lower half
Use wet wipes before loo roll to help prevent sore skin
Sorry for thinking you were a troll.
