Getting desperate (10 months constant headache) and thinking about pain management (as well as trying to get to bottom of it). Any experiences?
thanks

i'll take that as a no then :-) Noone at all used it for chronic pain conditions that could be partly caused by stress?

Hi I used hypnosis downloads and got a download to listen to on iPod. Mine was for back pain. I think it helps, esp as it is relaxing and good for stress, but it doesn't cure the problem. Also I couldn't listen when I was actually in pain. If you are interested I will post a link.

Surprisingly they don't do a headache one but there are 2 general pain downloads www.hypnosisdownloads.com/pain-relief/pain-management

GP once recommended hypnotherapist for undiagnosed pain, but it didn't help, probably because of discomfort sitting/lying down, in fact, practitioner said she didn't know what I wanted her to do, which is why I gave up after three sessions.

Yes I think if you are actually in a lot of pain it is hard to be hypnotised. The hypnosis helps you deal with pain that occurs after you have been hypnotised. If you are able to take painkillers and reduce your pain enough that you can totally relax the hypnosis will work a lot better.

I am sure you have been down every avenue but have you tried acupuncture? And have you also tried a food elimination diet (no grains except rice, dairy, soy, red meat, sugar, nuts, seeds, alcohol, caffeine, beans, lentils, citrus, yeast, deadly nightshade vegetables) If it improves, reintroduce slowly.

Thanks everyone,
Revivingshower - thanks for the links, I will take a look. I am thinking more though of seeing someone to do it as I am questioning to what extent my problem might be caused by chronic stress. It doesn't sound like anyone has had much success with it though!

Misty - thanks yes i have tried acupuncture - didn't help at all. Also reflexology, osteo, chiro. I haven't been able to identify a trigger either as its there when i wake up. I did stop gluten for about a month and dairy for week or 2 but no improvement.

I'm assuming you've seen a doctor, and wondering if you could ask for referal to Pain Clinic - usually a long wait but could be worth paying for help as they have so many non-medical approaches.
