Hi I recently found reasonably sized lump in breast. I have been referred to the breast clinic but obviously I'm worried out mind.

Has anyone had painless lump and been ok?

Not had this issues but just wanted to wish you luck, know most cases are just fine

I had 2 lumps, painless and moveable. Had needle biopsy, not pleasant, but Ok ish, and a ultrasound. All came back ok. Found others over the years, but gp said, not dangerous.

Yes, I found a lump under my arm, which was painless, irregular shaped and did not move. When the GP examined me, she also found a lump in my breast. This was pea-shaped with more clearly defined edges. Despite the fact that the breast lump had been there ages and I thought it harmless, she referred me under the 2 week rule, as she said there was a small chance it was cancerous. The lump under my arm she thought less suspicious.

Obviously, I was worried as the breast lump had been there 3 years or more and I assumed it was a cyst or part of my nipple.

The hospital were fantastic, efficient, caring, happy to explain things and answer questions and within the space of 2 hours or so I had seen the Consultant twice and had two xrays. All was fine and I did not even need a biopsy. In my mind, of course, I had cancer with secondaries.

It is natural to be worried, but really, most lumps are nothing to worry about.

The waiting is awful but there is a higher chance everything is normal than not.

Best of luck.

I also had a large, painless breast lump, just before Christmas. As it was both hard, rough and static the GP referred me as an urgent case to the BC. It turned out to be a large cyst - they syringed off about 16ml of green fluid and it's now gone. Like you I was worried sick, especially as my GP was not at all reassuring and I googled myself into a frenzy. Try to relax - it is far more likely to be a harmless cyst then anything else x

Waiting for results is awful, your mind races and you imagine the worst, but 9 out of 10 breast lumps are benign. HTH. Wishing you all the best.

Also I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Do you think that cause a lump or cyst?

Hormones can cause lumps in the breast. I have had them appear a week before my period since I was a teenager. The difference with hormonal lumps is that they come & go usually relating to the cycle but that must get confused during pregnancy. I assume progesterone increases cause them & obviously progesterone levels are higher during pregnancy.

As others have said, most lumps are not cancer. I had a lump which turned out to be a fibroadenoma removed 4 years ago so I understand your fears.

Stay positive. The odds are in your favour. Focus on your baby & don't start consulting Dr Google. Hand holding is all you need right now & MN is a good place for it.
