My dad had some on his back. He had them lasered off when they removed a few basal cell carcinomas, but he had to pay extra for it. They are NOT dangerous, just unsightly.

olivo · 24/07/2006 12:51

enid- are these like sticky outy mole/growth things? i think i have them and would like them removed - they catch on my bra straps.

suejonez · 24/07/2006 12:52

wasn't there a bit in the Times over the weekend about naturopathic ways to help these? Sat or Sunday can't remember, will look when I go home. Not sure if its the same thing but vaguely rings a bell.

Enid · 24/07/2006 12:52

my gp called them 'age barnacles'

I think I developed them after severe sunburn in india years and years ago

are they fleshy or hard? I think the ones in the papers were hard ones. If they're soft, tie some cotton around them (do one or two at a time) works a treat.

Enid · 24/07/2006 12:57

they are too flat to tie cotton around

they arent skin tags

suejonez, I think that's for skin tags - these are the seb Ks - too flat to tie thread round, I suspect. Google article suggests leaving them unless they cause a problem.

malibustacey · 24/07/2006 13:00

i had loads under my arms i had them lazered off i used to be scared id cut them when i shaved so when i had some cosmetic surgery i got the surgeon to get rid of them !!

suejonez · 24/07/2006 13:02

I'll go back and check the article this evening to see if they were talking about the same thing.

Enid · 24/07/2006 13:03

they ARE a problem - I hate them they are so unsightly!

will willingly pay to have them lasered off

The piece in the Sunday Times was talking about the same thing, sue. The usual treatment is exfoliation, but it didn't work for me. The lady in the Sunday Times recommends an increased intake of fatty acids - she suggested including flax and hemp seeds/oil in your diet together with lots of oily fish and a fish-oil supplement.

She also said that neem-oil soap gives excellent results - she recommended rubbing the soap directly onto the affected area, massaging into the skin, then once dry appling a moisturiser - she recommended something called SurgiSalve. You can get the soap and the moisturiser from www.marbelhillnaturally.com - the soap is £3.99 and the moisturiser is £5.49; it contains only shea butter and jojoba.

WigWamBam · 24/07/2006 13:05

Sorry, I mis-spelled the website address

It's www.marblehillnaturally.com

Enid · 24/07/2006 13:06

am going to contact plastic surgery centre

WWB - I know we are the same person but please stop reading over my shoulder, it's annoying. And buy your own newspaper in future, you are scrumpling mine up.

suejonez · 24/07/2006 13:07

at £3.99 I'd try the soap first even if it turns out not to work!

WigWamBam · 24/07/2006 13:11

Sorry, sue

I'm giving the soap a go, at £3.99 it's got to be worth a shot before thinking about lasering.

I am covered in these, along with papulosa nigra - they really increased during pregnancy. All over my tummy, back, neck...Too many to try apple cider vinegR / 'natural' treatment.

I have booked an appointment at Absolute Aesthetics to have these removed through advanced electrolysis.

Has anyone been to this company before, or had similar treatment? I am concerned about scarring as I have so many - hundreds - to remove...Not sure how good the company is now and getting cold feet!

S22 · 27/04/2024 20:07

I have hundreds of papulosa on my abdomen… it’s horrible. Tummy and breasts. Feel like more as I’m getting older and during pregnancy

S22 · 06/06/2024 15:15

Anyone ?

S22 · 08/07/2024 17:13

Can you lovely ladies with these uploads pics, I have them all over my stomach and breasts. I feel like I have more than anyone on the planet and panicking it’s something underlying.
