Uncharacteristic Wetting in a 2.8 year old = UTI? What can I do?

DD has wet herself three times this weekend, once on my lap within seconds of me asking her if she needed to go She's been dry for months now and this is really not like her at all. Could it be a UTI, even without any other symptoms (no obvious pain on weeing, doesn't seem unwell, no temp etc)?

The only other thing would be that I got rid of her potty on Tuesday, she uses the toilet everywhere else so I thought it was time. She's not weeing whilst attempting to get there, which has happened once or twice with the potty and really upsets her, she's just weeing whereever she happens to be (hence my lap!)

We're going out for the day, so if there's any suggestions of over the counter things I can give her I'd be grateful. I'll try and get her down to the GPs tomorrow. I'll be off and on here whilst making packed lunches so apologies if I don't acknowledge any posts straight away

I would definitely get her to the GP asap to rule out a UTI (take a urine sample with you). In the meantime, I would try and get her to drink loads of water - and, if she'll drink it, cranberry juice is the business for UTIs (and won't do her any harm if she doesn't have one).

But it could just be one of those training 'glitches', without an obvious explanation at all. Maybe, on some level, she is bothered about the potty going? Just stay calm, praise her when she does use the loo, and take lots of changes of clothes when you go out!

Thanks MM. We went to the Natural History Museum today - were out for about 8 hours and not one accident or near accident, so I'm beginning to feel that it might be a bit of an antitoilet protest. Her potty's always been in the living room, and she's not that happy that she has to go into the bathroom now, especially if Dora's on I think I'll monitor the situation for a couple days and see what she does.

Sounds sensible. Ds2 had lots of hiccups with toilet training. We had a wetting 17 times a day stage (after he'd been dry for months) when he would deny he needed the loo even when hopping frantically from one foot to the other and clutching his willy which then segued effortlessly into needing to go to the toilet 17 times an hour - I learned where every single public toilet was in a 5 mile vicinity.

He's OK now, though still the odd accident when he leaves it too late.

Do get it checked out. Both my girls 4 and 2 have had uti's . I feel like such a cr*p mum because as used to get SO angry with the older one, thinking she was just being lazy.
After a year of being fobbed off by the dr she ended up in hospital with a very serious infection and now we're waiting on kidney scan results.
I'm sure all will be fine with you though.
Oh, a word of warning. On a number of occasions they tested wee samples at the dr's with a dipstick and it came up clear, yet when the sample was sent to the lab it came back as infected. I would try and insist that the sample is also sent off , just to be on the safe side. good luck.

If she carries on wetting, I'll definitely take her
