Tonsillitis 5 times in less than a year - should I go to GP?

I'm 29 and have never had tonsillitis in my life until this year when I've had it 5 times. The severity of the sore throat varies, but it's the accompanying extreme tiredness, aching and swollen glands (and aching lower back?!) that are hard to deal with. I've just self treated up until now but I'm wondering if I should go to my GP? I don't like to be a bother so if they say to just carry on then I'll be embarrassed for wasting their time. Anyone got any thoughts?

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus. Shock

Are you ok now?

Yes i'm fine! Had my tonsils out a few months later. That was nearly 16 years ago! But I will never forget the pain definitely worse than childbirth!

Feeling a bit faint after all these stories! Tonsils look much better today and flu like symptoms abating, but at the slightest hint of another episode I'll be at the GP (which us next door so I have no excuse!)

Haven't read other posts but when this happened to my friend it was her wisdom teeth coming through.

I would go myself. Not sure if its the same for adults but doctor told me to call when dd gets it as they monitor how often, and if its like you several times a year, they take the out.
