The dr said he didn't think it did much for fatigue, but all the online reports about it say it is.

Anyone have an opinion?

Mainly used for joint and skin manifestations. If this the only med you need lupus is mild. I presumed you gave been seen by a rheumatologist specialist in vasculitis?

Wobblypig · 20/12/2013 10:27

Sorry ' considered mild' not to say that you are not suffering

Shosha1 · 20/12/2013 10:32

I have lupus and have been on plaquinel for ten years.
It made a real difference to me intially.
But to be honest now I'm not so sure. Or is it just I am older so tireder anyway.
I still work as a nanny. But term time only and today my last day I am knackered and can't wait for my three weeks off.
I am always in bed adleep by ten at the latest and up at six. I do find that if I sleep at weekends more I get more disturbed sleep so try not to too much. But some times I just have to go to bed on a Sunday afternoon.
But I think I battle through because I'm too bloody minded to let it take over my life :)

Are you on anything for pain as well?

HoHolepew · 21/12/2013 10:56

Thanks for the replies. I just take ibruprofen and codeine for the pain, I find that works pretty well. The fatigue is shocking ! I've had 2 kenalogue injections so far which really help but only for a couple of weeks. The dr doesn't want me to go on steroids because he says I'm too young.
I'm hoping the plaquenil helps the tiredness, especially as I work, and my ridiculously puffy eyes! I to have to sleep on the sofa in the evening to be able to function.

I hope you have a restful Christmas!.

Ask your Dr about Etodolac. It's a slow release painkiller. I find taking one at night helps with my sleep, and are you on one or two plaquinel a day?

Shosha1 · 21/12/2013 11:48

And to be honest after 15 years of Lupus, with all it's associated things, I think my body has just got used to the tiredness and fatigue.
The insomnia goes from bad to worse to bad, but I live with it.
In fact I find if I get too much sleep now I feel worse.
Have a restful Christmas too you all

Thanks Shosha, I don't know the dosage yet. The consultant said he doesn't like to start people on new medication over the holidays. I'm going back in January to see the nurse at the hospital who will go through it with me.

I'm going to see my own GP so will mention those tablets, I want to get anti histamines as well for my myriad of allergies which have sprung up (I'm in NI so get free prescriptions).

I buy Panadol Nightpain, it helps sleep as well. Boots sell it Xmas Smile.
