Blood tests getting repeated ASAP - what could this mean?

Receptionist arranged next blood test for next week after phoning to say my ferritin, calcium, vit D3 and LFTs came back this week and I've to see the GP at the turn of the New Year.

Why would I need to have the tests repeated?? Surely it's something treatable?

Am trying not to worry. Has anyone else had to have their blood tests repeated quickly before?

The receptionist didn't say what was wrong (protocol of the surgery) so it's unclear as to why I'd need them repeated. She did explain my ferritin level was sitting at 11 though.

Possibly to see if it was a one off and they want to double check. However, I would have thought that somebody should explain why .

Agreeing that you should have had an explanation.
Perhaps your results are borderline and they dont need to treat you now and want to make sure they dont get worse.
Can you ask for the doctor to phone and explain?

maybe calcium needed re checking?

Thanks for responding everyone. I am hoping it's nothing sinister! I'm sure if it was they would have arranged for another test much sooner than next week.

I've got Hasimoto's thyroiditis and suffer heavy periods, and mentioned this to the GP when I was getting a medical a few weeks ago.

Hopefully it can be remedied with medication. Have been feeling exhausted for many years.

I have that too

your ferritin needs supplementing and I suggest you routinely supplement it once levels are higher

vit d probably low too so again supplement year round once levels are higher

your gp will probably supplement them initially though
