is it something that happens in the hot weather? my ds (4) has had quite a few lately, not long bleeds, they clear up quickly but worrying. does anyone else have experience of this, should i take him to the gp?

DD had one at school the other day -blood everywhere! She occasionaly gets them during the night but not normally during the day.

I was talking to some other mums about it and it seems its quite common in the hot weather.

I don't know but my ds who is 5 next month also suffers. It used to happen abit more often, maybe once a week/fortnight but has calmed down. However a few weeks ago he had a really big one which just happened sporadically and ended with a huge clot comming out of his nostrel. I was under the impression that it was just one of those things - he does suffer with hayfever and don't know whether that is also a factor.

yeah betty when they have them in the night and sleep through it, it looks horrific the next morning and they are usually mystified as to why your creating such a fuss! Quite scary really.

Hi - my daughter (7) has had nosebleeds on and off since she was about 2. The advice from our GP was if she has one that lasts 15 minutes then take her straight to hospital. If they last under that then we are okay at home - so far the longest one has been 12 minutes and that was a gusher!!

My sister had horrendous nosebleeds and then grew out of it. I think there is something that can be done if they become a real issue.

Hope this helps.
