bleeding after sex

My sister confided in me recently that every time her and her partner have sex she bleeds a tiny bit. They have been together 4 years and have only slept with each other. This has been going on for a year or so, and is a tiny bit of pinkish blood each time. She doesnt want to see the dr, but I probably will be able to convince her to. I recently had a bad smear result so this has been worrying me a bit. Anyone know what it could be?

When I had this it was erosion of the cervix, not life threatening. Just annoying until I went to the doctor and got it sorted

Could be a cervical ectropian. Lining of the womb grows out onto the cervix and bleeds when touched. I have this just been investigated. It's pretty harmless and I'm having some sort of laser treatment for it I think.

She absolutely must get checked out though as could be other explanations. Are her smears up to date?

I've had this as a symptom of cervical erosion too. They did some tests but all clear otherwise. You can have an op to sort it (I got some breakthrough bleeding too) but I didn't bother & it eventually fixed itself.

Experienced similar when I had fibroids. She has to get it checked out, GP or GUM clinic.

It could also be a cervical polyp - easily spotted, and quick/painless to remove.

Thanks for replies. She's never had a smear as is only 24, and they dont do it til 25 here. I think she's been put off having one now since my first one came back with bad results (all ok now though). Going to convince her to see GP.
