So my eldest (boy) has come home with these lovely littl creatures.
He's aged 8 with short cropped hair so a bit miffed and want this sorted quickly before the other two catch it.
Which treatments are best and quickest? Ideally new something ASAP as have friends and family coming down to stay very soon....

Just wet comb using a nit comb every day and make sacrifices to your household gods

Hairspray acts as a repellant once the little buggers have gone.

Comb with conditioner and a Nitty Gritty nit comb.

We also have our first bout! The nitty gritty comb is amazing and well worth £10. I've also used hedrin! Just keep going over and over it!

SandyDilbert · 17/12/2013 08:51

Nitty Gritty and conditioner - don't waste your money on expensive chemicals which don't work. You can get the comb on prescription in some areas I think. You can add tea tree or neem oil to the conditioner too if you want as they both seem to help - use sparingly though.

I smother head in cheap conditioner and then wrap in cling film. Suffocates the buggers, then nit comb them out. I usually treat as soon as home from school and then comb at bedtime. Conditioner makes it easy to comb as well!

I use Hedrin Once, it dehydrates the head lice so they don't become immune to the chemicals. Worked for us. And lots of combing through with a bit comb (Nitty Gritty comb) to remove the eggs.

Hedrin One is difficult to wash out though. I read that you could use washing up liquid as it leaves dd's hair so greasy.

I think there's a new Hedrin mousse that is easier to wash out, haven't tried it though.

Is it true you can suffocate them off??

DD1 came home with a few. I'd been checking and think I caught them before the first batch hatched and wet-combed the blighters out using conditioner. I sprayed the rest of us with spray conditioner and gave a good comb through to be on the safe side (long hair). Apart from feeling itchy and paranoid I think we're clear again.

We burned some toast this week and last week I set fish fingers alight. Do you think the household gods accept this as an offering?

Thanks.
